In 1990 Claire O’Farrell and Barry McCabe set MOD Design in Dublin. Together they built a successful partnership designing and building exhibits and interiors globally. 10 years later they sold their business and each of then moved on to conquer new challenges, each developing and creating new creative opportunities within the design industry while also staying in touch.
This year they have decided to come together again to regroup their skills, talent and resources to recreate a successful design partnership to deliver new and exciting design challenges onto an international platform.
Who We Are
Claire O’Farrell CEO USA
Claire graduated from the College of Marketing & Design in Dublin Ireland with a degree in Exhibit & Environmental Design. Immediately upon graduation Claire spent 7 years as a designer at Modern Display Artists in Dublin before joining 1220 Exhibits in Nashville Tennessee, where she rapidly rose to the Title of Creative Director. She then returned to Ireland as a founding member of McCabe O’Farrell Design.
By 1997 America came calling again, and Claire became Managing Director of Button Eventures USA. Claire developed Button’s client base in the TV Industry and was quickly promoted to President. In 2002 Claire joined Tangram International as Vice President and ran the Los Angeles office for the worldwide company for 12 years. Claire then stepped out on her own once more to create Claire O’Farrell Design (COFD), based in Los Angeles. She brought international clients to all the major entertainment industry shows including NATPE, MIPCOM, MIPTV, Licensing Show , Brand Licencing Europe, NYC Toy Fair, and Comic-Con, and also developed and created CatCon. Her clients include Disney Consumer Products, Entertainment One, Cartoon Network, 20th Century Fox, MGA Entertainment, Sesame Workshop, Televisa, IM Global, Jerde Architects, Rockefeller Group, Vornado, Warner Bros, Moxie Brand Agency & Cat Con Worldwide
Barry McCabe CEO Europe
Barry graduated from the College of Marketing & Design in Dublin Ireland with a degree in Exhibit & Environmental Design. Upon graduation Barry also worked as a designer at Modern Display Artists in Dublin before joining Button/Eventures in London for 8 years as head of design where he worked on numerous exhibit projects throughout Europe. Barry returned to Dublin in 1990 and set up McCabe O’Farrell Design with Claire. Together they designed and delivered numerous projects from trade exhibits to museums, and in 1992 the designed the Irish Pavillion at the work fair in Seville.
While Claire travelled to work in the USA, Barry built a new design team and developed the business designing and building trade exhibits at MIPTV and MIPCOM, working with clients such as RHI/Sonar, WWF and RTE. Over the last 15 years, Barry has grown the business specialising in architectural fit outs, working in the retail, leisure, hospitality and domestic interior sectors.
Recently the company completed interiors for the Shelbourne Hotel, Dromoland Castle Hotel, as well as developing a new interior roll out for the Omniplex Cinema group.
In recent years Barry completed an MBA with reference to design managment services and in 2018 won the prestigious Fit Out Award for Designer of the year.
How We Do it.
Whether it be a domestic or international exhibit, a retail, leisure or hospitality interior, our design process is a simple 3 step process. We get to know you, we design for you, we deliver for you.
The Brief
We get to know where your business is, how it works and where it wants to go. Together we develp a design brief that will enable our team to deliver on your objectives.
The Design
We develop outline concepts for discussion, and then develop our ideas to a detailed presentation offering 3D CAD visuals, material sample boards and a logistics plan illustrating schedules, costings and contracts.
The Delivery
On agreement, we produce specification drawings for sign off, and engage with our production suppliers to oversee the build process. We seamlessly project manage the full process from show management requirements to deliver your product to the market place.
